QR Code Generator FAQ

How much data can a QR code hold?

A QR code can encode up to approximately 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 2,953 bytes of binary data at the lowest error correction level (L). In practice, shorter content produces smaller, more reliably scannable codes.

Will the QR code work with all scanners?

Yes. Generated codes follow the ISO 18004 standard and are compatible with all modern QR scanners, including built-in smartphone cameras on iOS and Android, and dedicated scanning apps.

What does error correction level mean?

Error correction allows QR codes to be scanned even when partially damaged or obscured. L (7% recovery), M (15%), Q (25%), H (30%). Use H for QR codes that will be printed on physical materials or placed in busy environments.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. Set any foreground (module) color and background color using the color pickers. Always maintain strong contrast between the two — insufficient contrast will prevent scanners from reading the code.

Is my data kept private?

Absolutely. All QR code generation happens in your browser. No URLs, WiFi passwords, email addresses, or other content is sent to any server, stored, or logged.

What size should I use for print?

For print use, choose 1024px or higher. QR codes should be at least 2cm × 2cm when printed. Larger is better — most smartphone cameras can scan QR codes from 30+ cm away if they are large enough.

Can I generate a QR code for WiFi?

Yes. Select the WiFi content type, enter your SSID (network name), password, and encryption type (WPA/WPA2, WEP, or none). Scanning the code will offer to join the network automatically on iOS and Android.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. QR codes generated here are permanent and never expire — they are static images encoding your content directly. There is no server dependency after download.

Background

Create professional QR codes in seconds — no signup, no watermarks, no limits. Enter any content type: a website URL, plain text message, email address (with optional subject and body), phone number, or WiFi credentials (SSID, password, encryption type).

Customise your QR code before downloading: pick foreground and background colors using the color pickers, choose a download size (from 256px for screen use up to 1024px for print), and select the error correction level (L, M, Q, or H) — higher error correction lets the code remain scannable even if part of it is obscured or damaged.

The live preview updates as you type, so you can see exactly what will be scanned before saving. Download as PNG or copy the image directly to your clipboard. All processing runs in your browser — your URLs, WiFi passwords, and contact data are never sent to any server.
