Grade Calculator FAQ

How is weighted average grade calculated?

Multiply each grade by its weight percentage, sum those products, and divide by the total weight. Example: 90% (weight 40%) + 80% (weight 60%) = (90×40 + 80×60) / 100 = 84%.

How do I calculate GPA?

Convert each letter grade to grade points (A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.0). Multiply by credit hours, sum all products, then divide by total credit hours.

How do I find what I need on my final exam?

Required final score = (target − current_grade × (1 − final_weight)) / final_weight. Enter your current grade, target grade, and the final exam weight.

What GPA scale is used?

Standard US 4.0 scale: A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D = 1.0, F = 0.0.

What if I need more than 100% on the final?

The calculator shows the required score even if it exceeds 100%, clearly noting that achieving your target may not be possible.

Can I mix percentage and letter grade inputs?

The weighted grade mode accepts percentage scores. The GPA mode accepts letter grades. Percentage conversions follow standard letter grade cutoffs.

What if all my grades have equal weight?

Simply leave all weights at equal values. The result becomes a simple average of all your grades.

Does it support plus and minus grades?

Yes. A-, B+, and all standard +/- variants are supported in GPA mode with their correct grade point values.

Can I use this for my high school grades?

Yes. The weighted grade mode works for any course structure. GPA mode reflects the standard US high school grading system.

Is any data sent to a server?

No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Background

Manage your academic grades with three calculator modes in one tool. The weighted grade calculator lets you add any number of assignments, quizzes, exams, or categories — each with its own grade and percentage weight — and computes your current overall score. The GPA calculator converts letter grades and credit hours from multiple courses into a cumulative 4.0-scale GPA using the standard US grading system. The "What do I need on my final?" mode tells you the minimum exam score required to achieve your target grade for the course. Supports percentage grades, letter grades, and points-based grading. Ideal for high school and college students tracking semester progress. All processing runs in your browser — no account needed, no data uploaded, no ads inside the tool area.
