What restrictions does this tool remove?
It removes owner-password restrictions: copy protection, print restrictions, and edit locks. These are permissions set by whoever created or exported the PDF.

Can this tool open a PDF that requires a password to open?
No. If a PDF requires a password just to open it (user password), that encryption cannot be bypassed without the password. This tool only works on PDFs you can already open freely.

What is the difference between user password and owner password?
A user password encrypts the file and prevents opening. An owner password allows opening but restricts printing, copying, or editing. This tool removes owner passwords — the restriction layer — not user passwords.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device.

Will the unlocked PDF look different?
No. Content, formatting, images, and page layout remain identical. Only the restriction metadata is stripped.
