Frequently asked questions

What data is shown for a private Steam profile?
Ban status is always returned by the Steam API regardless of profile privacy. For private profiles, the display name, avatar, and visibility badge are shown, but creation date, country, and online status may be unavailable since Steam restricts that data for private accounts.
What is a VAC ban?
VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) bans are issued automatically when cheating software is detected in a VAC-secured game. VAC bans are permanent and prevent the account from joining VAC-secured servers in the affected game. The API reports the count of VAC bans and days since the most recent one.
What is a game ban vs a VAC ban?
VAC bans are issued automatically by Valve's anti-cheat system. Game bans are issued manually by game developers through the Steam Game Ban API, often for cheating, exploits, or behaviour outside VAC-protected environments. Both are permanent and reported separately.
Can I look up any Steam account?
Yes — you can look up any public or private Steam account as long as you know their Steam ID, SteamID64, or custom vanity URL. Ban data is always returned. Some profile details may be limited for private profiles.
How do I find someone's SteamID64?
Visit the player's Steam profile page — the URL contains their SteamID64 in the form /profiles/7656119... If they have a custom URL (/id/username), paste that URL directly into this lookup tool and it will resolve the SteamID64 automatically.
Does the lookup show the game they are currently playing?
Yes, if the profile is public and the user has enabled 'Game details' visibility in their Steam privacy settings, the tool shows the game they are currently playing.
How recent is the ban data?
Ban status is fetched live from the Steam API with each lookup — there is no caching. The data reflects Steam's current records at the moment of lookup. New bans may take up to 24 hours to appear in Steam's API after issuance.
Is this lookup free and unlimited?
Yes. There are no limits on the number of lookups, no account required, and no fees. The tool uses the Steam Web API on the backend, which is rate-limited by Steam but sufficient for standard use.

Look up any Steam account by entering any identifier format: SteamID, SteamID64, SteamID3, Account ID, custom vanity URL (steamcommunity.com/id/ username), or a full steamcommunity.com profile link. The tool resolves your input and shows everything in one place.

Profile data includes avatar, display name, online status, account creation date, country, and all four Steam ID format representations for easy copying. Ban status is pulled directly from the Steam API: VAC ban count and days since last ban, game ban count, community ban, and trade/economy ban status. Ban data is always shown regardless of whether the profile is public or private.

Use it to verify a trading partner has no active VAC or game bans, resolve a custom URL to get a SteamID64, or investigate an account before accepting a friend request. Results come directly from the Steam API with no caching lag.
